Nyungwe Forest

Established in 2004 and covering an area of 1019 square km is Nyungwe national park; another popular primate park situated in southwestern Rwanda on the Rwanda-Burundi border where it adjoins Kibira national park to the south plus Lake Kivu & Congo in the west. Regarded as one of the best preserved montane forests in Central Africa, Nyungwe forest is home to numerous primate species including the start attraction the chimpanzees, olive baboons, red-tailed monkeys, golden money, L’hoest monkeys, Silver monkeys, Angola colobus among others. The park is also home to over 85 mammal species, 275 bird species and over 30 amphibian & reptile species.
