This 2 Days Nyungwe Forest tour gives an exceptional adventure of chimpanzee tracking and canopy walk in Rwanda’s Nyungwe forest national park. Both adventures give tourists a chance to see chimpanzees and other residents of the forest such as the grey-cheeked mangabeys, red-tailed monkeys, L’Hoest monkey, olive baboons plus different bird species.
Nyungwe forest, located in the far southwestern part of Rwanda is said to be the oldest afro-montane forest in Africa. It is a dense forest that consists of bamboo vegetation zone, grasslands, swamps and bogs which are all habitats for different species of animals. The park offers fantastic adventure experiences that visitors live to remember.
Detailed Nyungwe Safari Itinerary
Day 1: Transfer from Kigali to Nyungwe Forest national park
You will rise up early, meet your safari driver and drive out of Kigali. The journey takes about 5-6 hours for you to arrive at Uwinka Visitors centre in Nyungwe forest. You will have lunch and later on head for a nature walk in the forest which also leads you to the canopy walk. You will get on the hanging bridge over the forest where you will get the magnificent views of the forest top and spot some birds. After the adventure, you will transfer to the lodge for dinner and the overnight.

Day 2: Chimpanzee tracking and transfer to Kigali
Wake up and have an early morning breakfast and then head to the park offices for briefing. You will thereafter start the trek with a ranger guide, enter into the forest and go searching for the chimpanzees. Once you spot the family of apes, you will be allowed to observe them and take photos, then get back to the park offices. Embark on the return journey to Kigali where you will arrive in the evening.
